I love this topic – it’s GOLD for those wanting to harness the power that this business tool provides!
With the demise of the 2G network throughout 2017, the 2016 statistic of 99% of mobile phone owners using smart phones will almost certainly be up to 100%.
On top of that, if you add the ever-growing push for everything to be done on our mobile devices from banking through to ordering groceries and telling our air conditioner at home to turn on, leveraging the power of text messaging in your business for highly-targetted connection, is increasing in value.
Did you know that you can incorporate a URL into a text message, and your recipient can be directed to any online destination of your choosing?
Your website, Facebook page, Linked In profile, video clip, map for directions, phone number, email and the list goes on.
There is SO MUCH potential here – you just have to be creative, and think of it from your recipients’ perspective.
The obvious link would be to your website – whether that’s to direct an existing or new customer to information, a special offer, or to register for an upcoming event or workshop.
But it’s much, much broader than that. In fact, this option provides us with a veritable feast of opportunity for harnessing the power of text messaging in business for customer service and engagement, marketing and business development and for work team or group management.
Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

Keep your message short and to the point. If the direct link you want to include is super-long, there are a number of websites that allow you to type your URL in, and the site will automatically reduce it for you.
Just recently I wanted to include a link to a wedding event page in a text message, and the URL was 221 characters in length.
I used Tiny URL which reduced the link to 27 characters - a MUCH better option for my text message.
There are other platforms that provides this facility. Check out my Blog which also includes which ones perform best and where to get more info.
